If you're a big fan of golf or are trying to brush up on your skills perhaps you should consider going on a golfing holiday! It's a great way to spend the summer holidays , can be beneficial for your health and your peace of mind, and can allow you to get back in touch with nature in a way that simply cannot be achieved when you're cooped up in the office all day. Moreover there are many fantastic golf courses which are attached to holiday resorts, making it a desirable option for your partner or even your family - whilst you play the course, they can relax in style or make use of the other resort facilities. Even better, many of these resort style golf courses offer package holidays for longer bookings, large families, or return visitors. There really is no reason not to spend your holiday time on the golf course, especially if it's easy, economical, and keeps the rest of the family happy as well!
One of the best places to go on a golf holiday is to the United States. Flights to the USA are becoming quite affordable, particularly as the US dollar is weakening against the British Pound. In a similar manner the accommodation, food and entertainment costs of holidaying in the States is also considerably cheaper than it once was, again due almost entirely to the stronger British currency. There are a number of world famous golf courses and facilities in the US, including Pebble Beach Golf Course in California, the Whistling Straights course in Wisconsin, the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon, and the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York State. Well maintained, famed for outstanding beauty and ideally located for exploring the surrounding areas, these courses are a great place to start if you would like to really have a memorable golfing holiday.
If the United States isn't your thing or you would like to avoid long distance travel there are of course plenty of world famous golf courses and resorts a great deal closer to home. Scotland and Ireland are both renowned for their luxurious and challenging golf courses, including the Royal Aberdeen, the Royal County Down, the Royal Dublin, the Royal Portrush and of course the beautiful facilities at St Andrews. There are several advantages to holidaying closer to home - for a start, you are more likely to play in conditions similar to those you are used to, and perfect techniques that are adapted specifically to the unique climate and course structures found in the United Kingdom. From a practical point of view, these courses are far easier to get to either by car, train, ferry or short-haul flight, and will obviously have a much smaller travel time involved. You also don't have to have the hassle of passports, huge travel insurance bills, or the worry of having to deal with a foreign currency. Finally, it is much easier to have a short golfing break (perhaps for a weekend or five days) closer to home.
