Learn to play Golf

Golf is a sport in which a player uses several types of clubs to hit the ball into each hole, at the golf course, in the lowest possible number of strokes. Golf is one of the ball games; however, golf doesn’t use standardized playing area. The sport is played on golf courses and each course has a unique design. Typically, there are 9 or 18 separate holes on each separate course. Golf is commonly played between two players and it is considered as one of the most remarkable gentleman games in the whole country. It is believed that the first game of golf was played at Bruntsfield Links in Edinburgh, Scotland. The competition may be to take part in the stroke play in which the player with the lowest strokes is stated as the winner. Today, there are alternative ways to play golf such as disc golf and miniature golf.

Followings are some good information or instructions which would be very informative:

Types of shots: Every shot in a round will be faintly different, because the desired travel path and distance of the ball will virtually never be the same. Depending on the desired distance and purpose most shots fall into one of the following categories:

1. Drive: it is a long distance shot usually played from the fairway or tee which is intended to move down from the tee to green.

2. Approach: This is a kind of shot which is made intentionally to place the ball on the green. Approach shot refers to shorter distance shot within 120 yards of the pin.

3. Putt: It is a shot in which the ball is rolled along the ground, normally made on the putting green.

4. Chip: It is a very short-lofted shot which is made with a shortened swing motion. The shot made is generally within 35 yards.

5. Knock down or Punch: This kind of shot is made to avoid hitting the ball into overhead obstructions and it is a very low loft shot.

6. Lay-up: This shot is similar to drive in which shots are made from fairway. The shot is made with higher degree of accuracy because of some intervening circumstances. This kind of shot is made to avoid hitting the ball down to something hazardous places in the fairway.

Swinging the club: Short chips and putts shots are ideally played with less body movement, but most of the other shots are usually played using variants of the full swing. Full golf swing is used in fairway and tee shots.

Full swing is a multifaceted rotation of the body; it aims at speeding up the club head to a kinetic speed; for right handed player, it consists of a “follow through”, a “downswing to the left”, and a “backswing to the right”. Full swing is a little complicated to learn, beginners might spend several months while learning this particular swing. Even a professional player needs a good coach to maintain high-quality fundamentals.

The ball acquires spin when it is hit; spinning ball deforms the torrent of air around it; back spinning balls fly higher and longer. There are many more lessons which could be very educational for golf.
